Band Director


Neil Sasser


Mr. Sasser is a native of the Grand Bay / Irvington area of south Mobile County.  Mr. Sasser graduated from Theodore High School in 1991 where he was a three year member of the Alabama All State Band and All State Orchestra.  Mr. Sasser earned a B.S. degree in Music from the University of South Alabama in 1996 and M.M. degree in music performance from Auburn University in 1998.  While at those universities, Mr. Sasser held the position of principal trumpet in every ensemble, was a graduate assistant, and performed in the Faculty Brass Ensemble (Auburn). While in College Mr. Sasser also performed with the Port City Symphony (Mobile), Gulf Coast Symphony (Ms.) and Montgomery Symphony. Mr. Sasser was also lead trumpet for the Auburn Knights Jazz Orchestra from 96-98.Mr. Sasser is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Mu Alpha, Alabama Bandmasters Association, MENC, and was recently inducted into the American School Band Directors Association.  Mr. Sasser is currently serving as Vice Chairman for District VII of the ABA


Mr. Sasser has taught at Meek H.S. (Winston Co. Al), Satsuma H.S. (Mobile Co.), Baldwin Co. H.S. (Bay Minette) and is currently in his Sixth year at Robertsdale High School.  Bands under his direction have consistently earned superior ratings at both marching and concert competitions.  In 11 years his bands have earned 16 best in class band or overall grandchampionships in both mediums along with 8 superior ratings at State Contest.  His bands have performed in Orlando Florida on three occasions.  The Robertsdale H.S. Band participated in and won the Class AA Marching Band Championship at the 2007 All State Sugar Bowl and marched in Governor Bob Riley's Inaugural parade in Janurary of 2007.  In the fall of 2009, Golden Bear Marching Band Marched in the 2008 McDonald's Thanksgiving Day Parade in Chicago Illinois.


Mr. Sasser is married to Carrie Creel of Corner Alabama and they have two wonderful children Grant, who is 8 and Madeline who is 5.  They currently reside in Loxley Alabama.

Associate Band Director/Percussion Instructor


Robin Williams Isherwood


Mrs.Isherwood is from North West Alabama.  She graduated from Vina High School in 1990.  Mrs. Isherwood attended the University of North Alabama from 1990-1995  and received a B.S. is Music Education.  From there she continued her education and in 3 semesters received a Master's degree in Music Education in the summer of 1996.  While a member of the University of North Alabama, Mrs. Isherwood performed with the UNA Drumline, Percussion Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Christmas Percussion Ensemble, and the UNA Pep Band.  She was the percussion section leader in the Symphonic Band in the spring of 1994 and Pit Captain from 1993-1995.  While at the university, Mrs. Isherwood also was pricipal percussionist in the Muscle Shoals Symphony Orchestral from 1993-1996.  Over her career as a college student, she won numberous musical scholarship's and awards as well as academically. 


Mrs. Isherwood started out her teaching career by teaching various summer camps and giving private lessons while attending college.  She student taught with James Ed Champion at then Bradshaw High School (now known as Florence High School) in 1995.  In 1996 she was named Band Director at Vina High School were she also taught 9th grade Science, and Consumer Math.  In the summer of 1997, Kent Fyock recruited her to south Alabama were she was named Associate Band Director / Percussion Instructor at Baldwin County High School in  Bay Minette, AL were she taught from 1997-2005.  While she was at BCHS, she consistantly made superiors in Percussion and was one year given the chance to conduct the Concert Band and made superiors at District and an excellent rating at State Band Contest.  Part of her duties as Associate Band Director was to also teach at Perdido Middle School.  She was the 1st band director to take them to District Contest and the first year they past and was recommended to attend State Contest.  In the fall of 2005, Mrs. Isherwood made the decision to transfer to Robertsdale High School to work with Mr. Neil Sasser.  She now concentrates her efforts on percussion at the high school and middle school.  Her drumlines have consistantly made superior ratings and has won numerous 1st place awards.


 


While performing with the Baldwin Pops Band, Mrs. Isherwood meet her husband.  Mrs. Isherwood was married to Joseph Micheal Isherwood on Dec. 25, 2001.  Mrs. Isherwood also has numerous God children named Brian, Cody, Tanisha, Brooke, Amber, Dylan, and Miranda.  Mr. & Mrs. Isherwood currently resides in the Crossroads Community in Baldwin County.
